Benjamin W. Zushin

Trial attorney & criminal defense attorney serving Ohio.

Former assistant prosecuting attorney.

We The People

It isn’t an accidental phrase that begins the American Constitution, the source of our Government’s power. We the People chose Liberty, and, in turn, empowered ourselves to rebuild, to create, to struggle, and to form a more perfect union. It was what we cried out for when we declared our independence for “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” It was for these three things that “We the People” created our Government.

We the people still chase those three things every day, but the Government seems less and less like “We the People,” and more and more like “Us” versus “Them.”

We—we are The People. And sometimes, the Government forgets who actually holds the power.

My job is to help you do that, to make sure the Government is not abusing its powers against you or your loved ones. I will ensure that Justice is obtained for you and not at the cost of you.

Why hire a trial attorney?

When hiring a trial attorney, you want someone who is knowledgeable and will provide you with the representation you need, someone who knows what to look for in a case to give you the best chance at Justice.

After all, the State didn’t file charges, write a complaint, file an indictment, or issue a ticket because they want to negotiate. I know how a case is built, what matters and what doesn’t, and where a case meets or falls short of the requirements of the Constitution. Having an attorney who knows the pressures of the process and the procedures related to the courtroom is the kind of leverage you want.

Can’t every attorney have a trial?

Every human being can ball up a fist, but there was only one Muhammad Ali.

Knowing when it’s time to punch, and time to dodge is a skill that comes with practice, and knowing what punches count, how to throw them, and when to throw them matters.

Not every attorney has what it takes to, day after day, go into the ring and throw punches, dodge, and yes, when necessary, take a hit for their client. Not every attorney can get knocked down, and have lightning bottled up, saved for the right opening to go for a knock out later in the bout.

Yes, every attorney can have a trial, but not every attorney is a trial attorney like myself.

About Me.

I was born and raised in North-East Ohio the son of a Union insulator Dad and a Mom who was a photographer. I’ve been a part of two different County Prosecutor’s offices practicing criminal work and a staff attorney for a Public Defender’s office doing the same.

Every day I take these invaluable experiences, things that you can’t learn anywhere else, all over the State of Ohio and use them to better my clients’ futures.
